Results from NAGA May 30th, 2009 Milwaukee
While Team Twisted only had two competitors make the trip to Milwaukee for NAGA, it was a great success. Twisted Fitness once again proves it has the highest level of BJJ around.
Andy Acker-2nd place-Absolute Division
(the Absolute division is open to any belt level and any weight class. While Andy wasn’t one of the biggest, his technique proved hard to handle for all competitors. Andy, only a Blue belt, defeated a Purple, a Brown, And even a Black belt on his way to the finals of the Absolute division. Andy lost the finals by a score of 2-1…..it doesn’t get much closer than that. It was a great finals match and some of the most technical grappling seen at NAGA that day.)
Andy Acker-2nd place-Advanced no gi 160-169lbs
(Again Andy overcame the odds and came second only to a very technichal Black belt from Chicago. Again, as only a blue belt, Andy competed at a level on par with the toughest black belts. Twisted Fitness is very proud of his accomplishments!)
Greg Carpenter-1st place beginner no gi
(this was Greg’s first BJJ competition)
Greg Carpenter-3rd place-white belt division
(Greg was well on his way to another first place finish, but was disqualified do to an “illegal takedown” in the semi finals. The crowd booed, as the the throw seemed to be a legal move and even Greg’s opponent wanted to continue. The ref decided to let Greg compete for third, which he took with ease. Greg’s opponent who recieved the so called “illegal takedown” ended up finishing first and we have no doubt that Greg was able to defeat anyone in his divison. While he was disqulified by the ref, Greg recieved numerous comments from the crowd as to how spectacular and clean the throw was. We look forward to Greg being a permanent part of our Competition team.
